Our program activities range from everyday enjoyment to once-in-a-lifetime bucket list items.
The Events and Adventures team constantly surprises and delights our residents. Their can-do spirit means they don’t think about boundaries, leading to some truly unexpected results (like grandmas in bikinis)! Instead, they focus on activities that residents, their children and their grandchildren can all enjoy.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Prairie City Landing was proudly joined more than 600 communities nationwide to host the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Harbor residents enjoyed making tie-died shirts for the event. Families, Care Partners, and residents all walked, strolled, and had fun while raising money for care, support, and research of a disease that has impacted many of us.
Paint and Sip by Cassandra
We enjoy creative arts, but this Paint and Sip class, led by our Care Partner, Cassandra, was especially fun. Cassandra has been a Medical Technician for her entire career. Recently, she decided to pursue a design major with fine arts and art studio minors at Sacramento State. She blended her two roles to bring an inspiring art class to our residents, their families, and other Care Partners. “I enjoy every moment with them,” Cassandra said of the residents at Prairie City Landing. Her enthusiasm was contagious—everyone had a great time!
Gold Bug Mine
Residents stepped back in time to the wild Gold Rush days with a visit to the Gold Bug Mine and Park in Placerville. Outfitted with hard hats and lights, they retraced the footsteps of miners nearly 200 years ago, feeling the chill and darkness of the mines running deep into the earth. For one resident, this was a first-ever experience in a gold mine. She’d always been curious about Northern California’s history, and this fun adventure allowed her to break from her usual routine and explore someplace new.
