Douglas Wigner, Business Office Director
My first job, when I was 18, was working in a memory care unit. At the time, I was planning to work very briefly while I went to school for computer science, looking toward a career in IT. I quickly realized how much more meaningful it felt to make a hands-on impact helping those who need support, not just debugging code or explaining how to reset a password. Since then, I’ve taken on a variety of roles in Assisted Living—Med Tech, Memory Care Coordinator, and Resident Care Director—all of which helped me understand both the care side and the daily rhythm of community life. Now, as Business Office Director, I handle HR, billing, payroll, and compliance. It’s given me a new perspective on what it takes to keep things running smoothly and the experience to continue to grow my career in Senior Living. I’m also a Certified Dementia Practitioner and love learning more about dementia care and training. That’s what pulled me into this field and it’s still what brings me the greatest joy.
“Older adults have taught me that the small moments—a shared laugh, a familiar routine, or just taking the time to sit and listen—can mean the most. They also remind me that humor, resilience, kindness, and even a little sarcasm don’t fade with age…if anything, they get sharper.”
